Casa Guarnati in Malcesine: available activities in the town and Lake Garda surrounding areas

Malcesine has always been considered the Pearl of the Lake, as many people believe that this is the most beautiful town of Lake Garda, thanks to the characteristic medieval streets of the historical center and its unique pebble flooring.

Starting from our holiday home in Malcesine you can visit:

• the town Castle and its museum with the naturalistic collections and the hall dedicated to the German poet Goethe;
• the Lake Captains’ Palace with frescoes and decorations in Lombard-Venetian style;
• the ports: there’s the main port  where you can take the boat for a  trip around the lake and the old port, in the ancient part of the town, with excellent restaurants;
• all the little streets and corners  of Malcesine, to discover a picturesque town  unique in the world;

Malcesine is also the right place to taste our famous extra-virgin DOP olive oil, produced with local olives that grow wonderfully thanks to the mild climate of the area.

The months of May and June are ideal for excursions starting from Casa Guarnati in Malcesine to reach the top of Monte Baldo, which is considered the botanical garden of Europe.

This mountain, besides a breathtaking view, offers tourists the opportunity to admire its many spontaneous species of flora, among which over 50 orchid species.

Verona is located about 60 kilometers from Malcesine and Casa Guarnati.

In the city of Romeo and Giuliet you can admire many monuments of the classical age (for example the Arena, Ponte Pietra, Porta Borsari, Teatro Romano), of the medieval age (Castelvecchio, Arche Scaligere, Torre dei Lamberti, San Zeno, Duomo, Santa Anastasia) and of Reinassance, such as the elegant Loggia di Fra Giocondo and the many beautiful buildings which border the streets of the old city center and the main city squares, such as  Piazza Erbe, Piazza dei Signori and the wide Piazza Bra.

During summer it is possible to see opera performances in the Arena and theatre shows held in the Teatro Romano.

Mantova is located 90 kilometers from Malcesine and Casa Guarnati.

A famous art heritage city, Mantova offers visitors beautiful churches (the medieval Rotonda di San Lorenzo and the renaissance Sant’Andrea), wide squares, ancient theatres and the famous Gonzaga mansions: Palazzo Tè and Palazzo Ducale, the biggest in Europe.

Palazzo Ducale is a kind of “city in the city” with its inside courtyards, squares, gardens, and buildings and it’s a very interesting place to visit.

Venice is located 120 kilometers form Malcesine and Casa Guarnati.

Venice is a city famous all over the world for the artistic wealth of its monuments and for its amazing beauty, which does not really need any presentation.

The 400 bridges over canals and rivulets, navigated by hundreds of gondolas, the squares, churches and mansions make Venice a place unique of its kind in the world.

Bolzano is located 120 kilometers from Malcesine and Casa Guarnati.

Built in the heart of the Alps, Bolzano is the ideal starting point to visit the Dolomites, besides being a city where Mediterranean traditions and history meet the German heritage.

Its historical center, reserved for pedestrian use, is lively and full of life, and it is very pleasant to stroll around the streets bordered by beautiful mansions, or under the arches, and take a break in the typical taverns and restaurant.

The Duomo of Bolzano, and the new city museum, which hosts Oetzi, the prehistoric man found in the glacier ice on Similaun Mountain, are worth a visit.
